Camera Strip Down 7 - Pentaprism

It is time to reveal the final element in my strip down of my defunct Canon D6 - the pentaprism. In my naivety I imagined a pristine clear glass pentaprism but, of course, in order to reflect the image from the mirror to the eye piece there are only two clear surfaces, those facing the mirror and eye piece and all of the other surfaces are painted black in order to reflect the image. Unfortunately I was unable to undo the two screws holding the bracket over the pentaprism and I had to resort to brute strength to snap the bracket off which slightly damaged one corner of the pentaprism. Not the sparkling item I had expected but a rather dull black object. I will in due course photograph all the elements of the stripped down camera together as I thought this might be of interest.
