nesting time

Another April pleasure is being able to see birds in the trees before the leaves hide them from view. I've been watching  a pair of goldfinches collecting nesting materials and a female chaffinch building her nest in a bush right next to the back door. I hung some sheep's wool on the washing line in case it might be useful, and stocked up on niger seed which I know the goldfinches enjoy. Yesterday in Mabie Forest, I heard a chiffchaff for the first time this year. It's all go out there from dawn to dusk....
