Trade Route

Whether or not you favour the political hot potato of Brexit, this container ship giant at Southampton Docks today illustrates just how crucial international trade is to the economy.

Not just our economy, but world trade.

The container ship MOL Trust is just one of a series of mammoth ships operating a round the world service between the Far East, the UK and Europe. Her next destination on leaving Southampton’s Deep Water Container Terminal when loading and unloading operations are through is Hamburg before setting off on the voyage back to the Far East.

This Japanese owned ship, at 1,312 feet long and 164 feet wide is one of the latest generation of container ships, with a capacity of more than 20,000 standard 20ft containers, all carrying all imaginable goods in either direction between ourselves, Europe and the Far East.
