Just Lazing

With temperatures soaring and bringing a mini-heatwave and apparently the hottest April day here in 70 years, small wonder I found birds basking in the sun on a stroll through the park.

The temperature hit 28 in Romsey and there were plenty willing to take advantage of the unexpected sun, just like a midsummer’s day, in the Hampshire town’s Memorial Park, close to the river.

It seemed a little cooler on the coast, but a few miles inland this was hopefully a foretaste of decent summer days do come.

Certainly, this pair of ducks were making the most of it, and were not to be disturbed even by my approach, or passing visitors to the park.

But then a spot of sunshine can make a big difference to daily life.
