Sunset at River Brathay
A vey long and busy day. it started at 4:30 am with an early rise so I could travel the M6 before the normal rush hour traffic around Manchester and Preston. Then it was cross country to the delightful town of Ilkley. A visit to a friend and colleague, some work, some chat and a long walk over the moor that dominates the town on the best day of the year so far.
Late afternoon I started the next section of drive, stopping at Bolton Abbey for a quick photo opportunity. The thing that stood out for me was a walk along the river Wharfe and spotting dippers, sandpipers and a kingfisher in short order. Add to that the memorable sound of curlews and it was a really pleasurable pit stop.
Then a final journey to Ambleside in the Lake District. I arrived in time for a quick walk along the River Brathay towards Elterwater just as the sun set behind the Langdale Pikes. Tomorrow promises to be a day 'up high', bagging a few Wainwrights with a good friend.
