Perth Bridge (aka Smeaton's Bridge)

This is one of the two bridges which cross the River Tay into Perth. It was originally built in 1771 by John Smeaton, the architect of the Eddystone Lighthouse, to relace an earlier bridge which had been washed away by the ferocious floods the Tay is prone to. This has survived many floods since and was widened in 1869 to carry two lanes of traffic, rather than one.

It's usually pictured from the opposite bank, which will include the Perth skyline of church steeples, but I happened to be on the city side, so took this for a change.
