A glorious day!
Started with a lovely walk. The sun was coming up as I got up at 6.10am.
We met for our usual Thursday St Ives estate walk at 7.15 and it was warm and glorious. There was a bit of dew so the grass was quite wet but the mud was drying up!! The view down the valley across the golf course suggested a bit of an inversion and some lovely contrails in the sky. (Extra 1)
It was beautifully calm and quiet on Coppice Pond. My neighbour and I fed the young swans and a couple of ducks and a Coot and Moorhen at the top of the pond and then the male swan about half way down where a fisherman had set up his gear. (The first this year?) A little Robin got in on the act here too.
I liked this shot as it reflected the contrails in the water.
When we got around to the feeding station it was the same as last week, no one to feed. Whilst chatting to a friend who was walking her dog, a couple of Canada Geese flew over (once very common and breeding on the pond ). One landed and within seconds the male swan flew down and chased him off. Very dramatic. I was too absorbed watching to try to get a shot of it.
Had breakfast in the garden and then proceeded to clean the upper patios and weed the the borders in the back garden stopping only for a coffee late morning.
Chris was on duty at the Luncheon club this week (his last turn was cancelled due to snow) When he got home he cut the grass - he's a hero - so at last the garden is good to go for the summer. So much has come into flower and it is lovely to see in the warm sunshine. The sound of lawn mowers has been the background sound all day.
I confess I've had a little 'nap' this afternoon.
What a glorious day! Hope everyone in the UK has had a chance to enjoy it, it's been a long wait!
