Different scenery

On our day in Medieval Bergamo.

We took the car ferry across the lake to Varenna, drove the length of the right hand arm of the lake, as we headed for Bergamo. Very different scenery as we saw the more rugged and less touristy area down to Lecco. Nature reserves, rivers and mountains before we headed to historically fascinating Bergamo.

The view was taken from one of the high viewpoints over the gentle rolling Lombardia countryside.

Delicious local food - Casoncelli (home made ravioli with meats and dripping with delicious butter) in a place our guide described as “cheap and good.”

A walking tour of the lively and Medieval City, before we tackled the traffic jams to head for home.

I’ve added an extra from the main square, but I wanted to give you a flavour of the Spring landscape.
