Little Stream Day 2

Update 7.01 pm The lights are starting to flicker. Power going out soon I think....

Today just started out like a normal wintery day. Overcast and some gustier than normal wind.

One noticeable absence was the traffic. On my way to the gym at 7.30am the roads were fairly quiet. No school buses and no commuters. Felt more like a Sunday morning.

The gym was quiter than normal with the early morning business crowd having a day off.

By the time I left at about 11.30, the gym was busy and the rain had started with the wind picking up quite a bit. Nothing out of the ordinary so far.

Stopped to take the same shot as yesterday. ( used the same speed, aperture and ISO as yesterday for direct comaprison ).
Apart from being wetter and a bit darker there doesn't appear to be much difference.

However the main difference was the noise. The wind was whistling through the trees and the stream was getting noisier although not a great deal more water than yesterday was flowing, but it was flowing faster.

I took a few more shots in Long Valley in the lower lying areas and hope to get out tomorrow and take the same photographs.

It's now 2.30pm and the winds are picking up and the rain is a bit more steady.

Our biggest concern is not the rain or flooding because we are in an elevated part of the Valley but we are exposed and the possibility of power outages and high wind damage is more of a threat.

For those of you interested I've put the location of the shot on this page so you can zoom in and take a look at the exact spot from where the photographs are taken.

ps I'll probably post a series of daily shots on my website and will give a link to it tomorrow.
