Squatters' rights

A bit blurred but he just will not sit still for a photo!

This is Cat. We have had some highly imaginative names for cats in our family, including Puss, Moggy and not Cat.

Cat is Mum and Dad's squatter!

He turned up at their previous home a couple of miles from where they now live. He was friendly, healthy, well fed and clearly belonged to a family who would be missing him. But he simply didn't leave.

So when Mum and Dad moved into their new home Cat went too.

A couple of days after they moved in there was a knock at the door from a child living opposite.

Child: "Fudge is sitting in your front window!"

Mum: "Who is Fudge?"

Child: "Our cat! He left home when we got a new dog. Can we have him back please?"

Mum: "Yes, of course, if he wants to go."

So off went the child with Fudge/Cat to his original home.

Half an hour he was back!

So Mum went across to find out what had happened.
The lady of the house explained that Cat had arrived "home" and saw the dog.

He then gave a look of "Either the dog goes or I do."

It seems he then turned on his heels and stood by the front door miaowing to be out. And off he went to Mum and Dad's, where he has remined ever since!
