Towhee Time

This was a surprise! I've seen them in the area but a half mile or so from here. Never even heard one around the house.This is the third time this week he's been under the flowering crab looking for sunflower seeds.I must confess I threw some on the ground just to lure him back - and managed to get this photo. The last 2 times I tried to sneak out the door when he was there he flew off. The red eyes always surprise me. This is a rufous sided towhee ( name comes from their calls).
