The first cuckoo
We did part of the seven stile walk today but as W isn't up to stiles yet we got close to the first one and retraced our steps. On the way back we heard two cuckoos calling to each other from opposite directions; the first we've heard this year and the earliest yet, as we'd previously not heard one before St Georges Day. Loads of blossom and flowers out in the hedgerows and the air was full of fragrance; a perfect day for a walk. I took several shots while we were out but didn't like any so used this instead. The flower is tiny; only about three millimetres across and whilst strictly a wild flower, I suppose the fact it's in my garden makes it a weed.
