Local adventures

Another local adventure today. After a lazy start, I loaded up and paddled out of our harbour headed down the loch and onto the river to Aberfeldy.
A fair tailwind meant I could sail and surf quite a lot of the 10 miles to Kenmore. Squalls blew through but with a longer shower I decided to take a break, stretch the legs and stay dry. After travelling 16 miles the waves are fairly chunky by Kenmore which makes for a sporty landing and then a bit of graft to get off the beach. Onto the river. Paddling whitewater solo always focuses the mind a little but I love it. The river is my place. I played and played, using every feature going, literally laughing out loud occasionally and ending up needing to sprint the last 2km of flatter water to meet my pick up.

*extras are a (reconstructed) Crannog, an iron age house built on artificial islands made either of timber stilts or just piles of rocks. There's a few hundred remains of them dotted around on scottish lochs. And a whole lot rarer, a very happy selfie!
