Red Deer Hind
Our aims for today were Uig where the chessmen were found and Callanish to see the standing stones. We also made our way to Bosta crossing "the bridge over the Atlantic". The beaches at Uig and Bosta were sensational, I can think of no other word. Acres and Acres (or should that be hectares) of shining white beaches, not a single piece of plastic detritus in sight. Clear blue water and startling white breakers.
At Bosta we saw a Grey Seal pop its head up and watch us two or three times. Very close and in shallow water but too quick to get a shot of. Callanish was impressive but suffered as does Castlerigg from far too may people(including us of course) wandering round trying to get shots with nobody else in frame!
Another of the days highlights was as we travelled along a group of Red Deer hinds crossed the road in front of us. Then obligingly stopped not too far away and watched us. We had time for some shots before an approaching car forced us to move. We were on a single track road after all!
