Trawler Drag Chain.
Our time in Lewis has come to an end. We said goodbye to "the Mate's" son and family and headed south towards Harris. As we travelled along we were held up for a minute or so by traffic lights at some road works. It isn't often I think that is an advantage but today it was! While were
there a Sea Eagle glided past. No chance of Photos but another bird I was hoping to see ticked off.
We arrived at our caravan site on South Harris around lunch time. After we got set up we set of to explore. Tarbert was the first stop checking out the ferry terminal ready for Saturday. Then along the side of Loch an Tairbeart. Which I suppose translates as Loch Tabert. Crossing one of
the "bridges over the Atlantic" on to Scalpay. The blip shows what I am informed is a trawler drag chain. It would seem it is a set of chains which are dragged in front of the trawl net. This stirs up the bottom and moves the fish up to where the trawl is so that they can be caught.
After a tour round the island we returned to the campsite noting the Harris Distillery as we passed through Tarbert.
