Rhodo Festival Wrap

The city of the Blue Mountains is a string of towns and villages dotting the Great Western Highway from Lapstone on the outskirts of Sydney in the east to Mt Victoria just west of Blackheath in the west. The local newspaper which best services this population is the Blue Mountains Gazette which, of course, derives its principal income from business advertising. Pictured, is this morning's edition.

Most of the Blue Mountains settlements hold festivals of some sort or other during the course of the year and the Gazette helps to publicise these events with advertising "wrap-arounds" for businesses in the relevant locations. Consequently, once a year, at Rhodo Festival time, I (ahem) get to design the "front page of the local rag". Voila.

Every year it is traditional to crown a "princess" who makes appearances at various Rhodo events and becomes a photo focus for publicity. (I shall shoot this year's festival princess in the next few days). This year, being our 60th event, we have invited back all of the past princesses that have reigned over festivals since 1952. Most of them will be making an appearance on Rhodo Saturday, during the "Grand Parade".
