If you can't beat them...

Aird Noisabost

We decided a round tour of South Harris was to be the order of the day.  Making out usual 9 ish start we set off anti clockwise.  The beaches down the west coast were is anything more spectacular than those of Lewis.  It was a bright sunny day with only a light wind, very cold however on the hands.

Near Seilebost we stopped for quite a while to explore the beach at Aird Noisabost.  The sand stretched as far as the eye could see.  I hunted along the tide line for European Cowries and Blue Ray limpets but found none, while Chilcky chick "played" with her camera and Crystal Ball.  Eventually we said enough is enough and retired to the warmth of the Land Rover and put the kettle on.

Continuing round the island we came across more beautiful beaches, a tiny harbour at Rodel and eventually we saw a couple of Red Necked Divers on one of the road side lochans.

Another feature of the Lewis/Harris island we have noticed is the provision of small, free, basic but extremely well kept public toilets at beauty spots and where people are likely to spend time. If it can be done in a scattered community like the Western Isles why can't the authorities in Cumbria provide public toilets in towns and villages let a lone the countryside.
