Casting a vote!
Obviously this isn't actually the voting ballot box, think that would be highly illegal and it's also far too jazzy for one, but it made me think of the local elections going on around the country today. I've placed my vote, always feel it's important to use our ability to vote.
Radio 2 is like a friend to me, a companion and a constant in many ways. I think the radio is like that for many. Anyway, that's been particularly highlighted today as it's been quite an emotional one for the station. Chris Evans' breakfast show had to be covered by his sport presenter, Vassos, at the last minute because Chris' Mum had passed away. He left a beautifully written tribute for Vassos to read out.
At the other end of the day, Simon Mayo's drive time show is changing due to scheduling alterations. This means the team as they are will no longer remain. I listened to the final show as a team on my portable radio as I strolled, they were so emotional and I can't help wonder why you'd change a format that works so well!
As a listener you feel a connection to these broadcasters, it's their talents that create the magical feeling that you're part of an extended family. I think Radio 2 listeners everywhere will have felt the sadness through the airwaves but also a warm smile through the many memories played out. :-)
