Pondhawk

Driving by a small lake just outside Houston I thought we'd better stop for a quick blip before the flight.

This male Eastern Pondhawk was doing circuits being chased off by other males. Just nearby and coating the trees and reeds were the eggs of the apple snail as seen in Extra. The snails themselves are very well named looking huge just like an apple and are very invasive!
