St Barnabas Monastery.

This was taken during an excursion to northern Cyprus. I would have loved to have blipped the checkpoint at the demarcation line, but I kind of believed the "No Photography " signs!  Chickened out, yes!  It was a much bigger affair than the line in Nicosia, army camps, lots of officials, passports taken in etc.

The trip took in the monastery as above, the ruins at Salamis, Famagusta, and the nearby ghost town of Varosha, where you can use the beach and cafes but not enter the town or take photos (hence the link).  

The extras include Namik Kemal and the dungeon he was kept in in Famagusta, and a ship in the harbour seen from the sea wall.
