Above the rooftops.
Today at St James the less church in Pangbourne they were marking the 300th anniversary of the tower with various events. The current church building is just over 150 years old but the tower, unusually, was part of a previous older building and dates from 1718. As part of the celebrations we were able to go to the top of the church tower. This was reached by a system of ladders, passing by the bell chamber and also the workings of the church clock, finally emerging through a small door onto the roof. The views over the village and surrounding countryside were superb. A little later, we also had a go at bell ringing too. I have included a few extras today, full record on Flickr
