Jamie’s in Manchester
Just like when we were little, my sisters, mum and I went up to the local station and hopped on the train into Manchester. We used to do this when we were little, and then teenage, to spend all our money on clothes. With tired feet we would walk down the hill to home and then do a fashion show for our dad, who we assumed would be interested....he used to crane round our bodies to keep watching the tv!
This time we were looking for wedding outfits for August. We managed to find shoes and a top, so not too bad. The fashions at the moment are expensive and naff in my honest opinion!
For lunch we went to Jamie’s. It is in an old bank and they have kept all the features, like the Chubb safe in the wall and the old wooden booths. But the toilets were immense. They were the old safe rooms and had proper Crapper toilets in them. Blip is a safe room still with the safety deposit boxes where you can have a really select dining experience. I’m not sure I would like to be locked in there, but I also wouldn’t like the door open to everyone going to the loo!
A cracking day, with cocktails and laughter. The evening was a very depressing one being too fat for either of my wedding dresses :(
