Against the odds..

A little while back when it seemed all the monarch butterflies had emerged from their chrysalis and flown away I noticed quite a small caterpillar on one of the decimated plants.   I put it on a plant where there was more food but as it was getting colder I didn't expect it to survive.  To my surprise a few weeks ago I saw it had formed a chrysalis and yesterday it emerged This afternoon, after a few false starts it flew away into the sunshine. It is really too cold here for them over winter but just maybe she will find a nice little place to spend the winter, I do hope so.  A couple of extras are included.
