Speckled wood
We went for a walk to see bluebells, which I thought might be today's blip. This Speckled wood butterfly landed just in front of us on the path and opened its wings long enough for me to photograph it. There are quite a lot of butterflies about at the moment, so perhaps this warm weather will help them; they certainly seem to need some better luck than they've had in recent years, although I think a few species are doing ok. Mostly in the garden we see the commoner species, with the occasional little blue butterfly that goes by so fast I can never see what it is.
