New kids on the block
These wind turbines appeared on the horizon recently. The photo is taken from the line of the Hadrian's Wall Trail about a mile east of Heavenfield, looking north. On a clear day it's a view that made makes you think you can see forever. This image is best seen enlarged.
I have mixed views about the turbines. While visiting Orkney this year I heard that they are usually welcomed because money from the electricity generated is going directly into local communities. Here we are not so sure of their efficiency. This morning someone talked to me with horror at the thought of a Japanese nuclear power station on Anglesey. How do we generate enough power (or use less)?
I've been to see the National Theatre's Timon of Athens with Simon Russell Beale, beamed to our local cinema. Has anyone else seen this production? It was heavy going and very thought provoking.
The artist returns home tomorrow, no doubt with tales to tell of her few days away.
