Locanda del Melo, Wild's Rents

The Minx and I are going to a meeting in Bermondsey, tomorrow, so we travelled down to London, this afternoon. Ideally, we'd have walked from Euston to the hotel but we had heavy bags and took the tube to Borough, instead, and then walked up Long Lane to the hotel.

On the way, we passed this little deli on the corner of Wild's Rents* and saw a board outside with a menu. As it looked like a lovely place to eat, we popped in to see whether they would be open, this evening. The guy in the shop was really friendly and said we could book a table...

... which proved entirely necessary! When we returned at eight o'clock, every seat was taken. In fact, our table for two was actually in the shop. (See the extra photo for the view from our table.) Not that we had any complaints about that; it was absolutely charming. As were the staff and we had an amazing meal, too. No wonder the place was so full.

*I looked this up. Apparently 'Rents' refers to streets or lanes owned by a person on which they collected rent.
