Rushing for the Metro

We shouldn't still be in Paris - we should be in Barcelona!

Guy is feeling a bit cross with himself. A few weeks ago we had agreed that the best way to get from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon was to get a taxi. However on Saturday he investigated getting the metro and discovered it was only the second stop so decided that's what we should do. Unfortunately we forgot about the French rail strike. The trains on the line we wanted were not running but a very kind Dutch man helped and explained the quickest route. Fewer trains were running and they were packed. We arrived at GdL just as our train was leaving, the next one is tomorrow!

I said it's no use crying over spilt milk and nobody died so don't be cross. He knows that but it doesn't help.

Luckily the Novotel immediately outside the station had rooms. What was surprising was that we could go to the ticket office, explain the situation, and rebook for tomorrow with no extra charge! Imagine that happening in England.

Unfortunately we will have to miss the tour that we had booked for Sagrada Familia tomorrow afternoon and we will only have one day in Barcelona.
