Maneki-neko

It's called various other things but I'm hoping it proves to be a lucky cat for me. It made an appearance on Blip in 2011 but I'm hoping this time I get some more luck.

Why? Well because I had my interview today and I would really like the job. Like a lot. The people were really nice - I made them laugh which I think is always a little victory for me. I didn't let silence fall into the conversation, I always had something to say and there were no "what did you just try to say?" expressions on anyone's face.

However, I am up against 4 others from within the company and I'm sure they are all much better qualified than I am. I know their German is going to be much better. But I have one advantage, the guy I would be working with, and ultimately taking over from, is English. I'd say it gives me a chance.

I'll hear in a couple of weeks and the decision will be significant for me. If I don't get this, then I'll just have to face the fact I won't find an IT job in Germany. Ever. Then it'll just be about finding a job that isn't shit.

Either way, I'm staying here though.
