making a difference
The Development Trust had an info desk at a local coffee morning today being held in the Burnside Hall in Dollar. We were handing out leaflets for our new volunteer driver scheme which I have been working on for months and which we launched this week to give lifts to local people who don't drive and struggle to use public transport.
One of our first passengers was a lovely 99 year old lady who needed a lift from her home to the coffee morning for a much needed outing and catch up with her friends. She had a great time and told everyone at her table that she felt she had "got her independence back.". Made me feel so proud of our volunteer drivers who are giving their time to do a little thing that can make a big difference in somebody else's life.
For today's blip I chose colourful display on the wall of the Burnside Hall which consists of individual tiles painted by local kids - another example of little things which can have a big impact :-))
