Handed In!

And with more than half an hour to spare. Here are our three main actors - L, S and J - at Cabaret Voltaire just after we'd handed in our completed film. A busy day started with me heading out to the beach to get some sea sounds for the audio while L started on the edit. S came round to help, and J popped in for a bit as we worked on the edit, and the audio, and the music. We cut things down and had a bit of a cheer when we got to the point where we had a legal file for the competition (less than seven minutes in length). We had a rough draft ready by four-thirty, but still no music. Still, worst case scenario we had something to submit, just as they advise you in the instructions for the weekend. I dealt with the paperwork while L and S sorted the music. It was done by six and the final version ready for reformatting about ten past. Two copies onto usb drives, all the forms in the envelope and we were on our way at six-thirty. As we went through Holyrood Park I thought, if the car breaks down there will just be time to get there on foot, so we should be okay, whatever happens. Nothing so dramatic stopped us getting to the venue and handing our stuff over. We had a drink together before heading off - J to head home, S to have a fancy meal with her boyfriend and the rest of us, plus C, who hadn't been able to get the time off to join in, to go for a pizza.
It was such a buzz being part of the challenge. The way that the external deadline means that you just have to say, time and again, that will have to do. No agonising over perfection that prevents anything from being produced. And an awesome team of six that covered all the bases and made it happen - go team Red Stone. The film will get shown on Thursday night at The Cameo, in a screening along with half of the other entries. Will be so interesting to see just what everyone else did!
