Save the date

I dislike this phrase, because it seems to have seeped in from America - and I think we can all agree nothing good can come from that.

I don’t even get the point either. I’m assuming the point of a ‘save the date’ card (other than creating another money making opportunity) is to give people plenty of notice when the wedding will be before you have the details sorted. But I spent most of last year sat between two women in the process of getting married (not to each other), and if I learned nothing else, they taught me that if you want the venue of your dreams, you need to get that locked down before the end of Primary 2 - so how much more notice do you need?
