Critters, Plastic, and Pre-Plastic

We went to a rousing, rip-roaring March Forth concert last night that featured acrobatics and great music. At the end, these two, big green monsters joined in. On the far left is family friend,James, on trombone.

I put this moth into a plastic container to make a stab at identification, but he outsmarted me and flew away. Looks rather long in the tooth, don't you think? Could a critter be old this early in the season?
Finally, here's an old newspaper clipping Tanja forwarded to us. That's Eric at age 14 pulling weeds out of nursery stock planted n tin cans - no plastic containers in those days. He thinks he was paid $1 per hour.
