Autumn Colour (At Last)

Trusting the weather forecast we drove up to Pitlochry and Loch Tummel, expecting the sun to shine for the afternoon and that we would see the glorious colours of autumn at their best.

The colours were there in plenty; birches a shimmer of gold dust, larch a drift of yellow, beeches glowing all shades of gold and rust - but the clouds came over and for most of the time they just didn't light up. Before the sun disappeared once more I snapped this in the carpark at the Queen's View visitor centre - my favourite scene of a lit foreground against dark brooding skies.

On the way home the temperature dropped to 1 degree, Schiehallion was covered in snow so we did have the best of the day.
