Looking Out To The Islands
This foto was taken from my friend's building plot. It's the best I have for the day but I'm not happy with the shot - I have so much to learn! The farthest island actually has a lighthouse on it which has been automatic since 1975. The ocean around it is a diver's delight and lots of research by the National Marine Science Centre is carried out there. It is also a favourite haunt of Gray Nurse sharks which were once thought to be man-eaters but are now acknowledged to be very slow and docile creatures that are friendly to divers and pose for many photographs. Netting in the photo is protecting blueberries from the birds. This area now has much of its former banana growing land given over to this new more lucrative crop.
