The Rally today

Yesterday the Classic Cars were on display and looked splendid.

Today was the Rally, when so many of these cherished vehicles were given a bit of a run.

Typical of Madeira, the curse of “elf and safety” was nowhere to be seen and it was chaotic fun. Burning rubber, almost handbrake turns, and some very exciting bits of cornering all added to the spectacle.

It all ranged from the elegant and sedate to the meticulously polished and tinkered with. The cars are clearly very well loved and it was simply fabulous.

I stood on the roundabout not far from the CR7 Hotel (Cristiano’s of course) where the exhibits did a lively loop before continuing.

They moved all the buses as they’d closed the roads but I still found the 29 and headed up high to one of my favourite places.....
