Dad's Army
What a wonderful morning! The sun was shining and it wasn't too hot when G, A and I set out for a 5 mile walk from Sheringham Park to Weybourne Station and back. We walked down through the National Trust Park and by the glorious rhododendrons in lots of different colours. Then we walked along the edge of fields with woods on our left and the sea in the distance on our right and with the Poppy Line steam railway in between (see extra for a photo of Black Prince passing us). The station was holding a Dad's Army day and had lots of people dressed up as the cast, the Jack Jones van was there and two singers were going through a repertoire of songs from the war era (with some dancing). There was also a NAAFI serving tea, cake and spam sandwiches. Everyone was enjoying themselves so much and there were parades and a few 'don't panic' s shouted out by 'Jack Jones'. Weybourne Station was evidently the setting for the Royal Train episode of Dad's Army.
Weybourne is only a village, but it's hosted two great events on two days running, they've done so well. I think this will be a regular walk going forward. A delightful walk, wonderful weather, fab entertainment, brilliant company and everyone having fun - what more could be asked for?
