On his trike
Today was our day together while his mum went off to get her hair done.
We were handed a rucksack full of snacks and other essential supplies and dispatched off to the park to feed the squirrels. Having dispensed with the pushchair these days Fred took himself there on his trike. He likes whizzing down the hills which was slightly scary but we eventually made our way unscathed to the park.
There it was snacks on every bench, whizzing down all the paths, pretending to be a lawnmower, going to the café for a babycino, and running around barefoot on the grass.
He's such a different child than the one who visited us only six weeks ago. So grown up. Out of nappies. Saying please and thank you, and 'you stinky pants!' Having conversations, asking questions, and taking a great interest in the world around him.
We finished off our day with a lie down in the long grass, discovering grass seeds, picking buttercups, and looking for bugs, until his mum came along to take us home.
