Pond life
A very muggy and misty start to the day for our early St Ives Estate walk.
The meadow was a wonderful mix of wild flowers but I was hoping to get a shot of the yellow Iris around the pond which hadn't flowered on my last visit.
Only few were in flower but I got them with an abundance of pond life. Both adult swans with all 8 cygnets came to be fed. There was a Coot, hidden here by the iris. Two mallard ducks and behind them two tufted ducks. Two Canadian geese in the distance, seen off by dad as we approached. (The two juveniles were also still at the top end of the pond staying well out of the way.) If you look carefully you may also spot a Heron at the top of the shot.
Did some more gardening when I got back and boy was it hot when the sun came through. I can sense storms coming if it stays this humid.
Is it the last day of spring? May has been a fabulous month, let's hope we get a great summer too.
