Hawthorn Flowering
A much cooler day, overcast and a northerly breeze. The skies cleared by 5pm, and a fine sunny evening.
A day working on the museum desk. It's been an extremely busy day, with two cruise ships in Lerwick. They weren't big spenders today. A mad rush after tea, and headed down for my early shift in the pub. A steady evening of punters. Finished early, water the garden and plant a couple of new shrubs, walk Sammy and then feet will be up for the night.
When we bought the house last year, the hawthorn had already flowered, so this is the first spring and a joy to watch the hawthorn returning to life. Cathy next door says it was planted by a neighbour maybe 80-100 years ago, and that's why my house is named Hawthorn Cottage. I'll be taking cuttings to propagate and keep the try going. I do love the peerie flowers, and the twisting trunk. Taken at Houl Road, Scalloway.
