Dramatic skies

Fred and I met Amy and Catherine at King's Cross and we enjoyed a bubbly picnic on the train - a marvellous start to the wedding weekend. Once in Auld Reekie, we found our flat on the Royal Mile (such a brilliant location) where Liam (best man and photographer) showed us around. He'd been on an earlier train and had sussed out everything except the shower (note: always read the notes from the landlord). The flat was perfect. It's the second time I've booked through airbnb and I'm wowed again by how simple and efficient it is, as well as being fab for finding ace places to stay. The five of us were very happy with our situation.

We settled into our rooms, then huddled by the fire with complimentary whisky in hand as Matthew (the second best man and orator) arrived with his girlfriend. From there, we walked a short distance to Deacon Brodie's to meet the bride and groom, the bride's parents, and many other wedding guests. It helped the happy couple to see familiar faces before the big day - the nerves were hitting. They were in fine form, though, and all were extremely excited about tomorrow.
