A River Ran Through It

Woke up this morning to hear an unfamiliar sound in the bedroom. Death Watch beetle? Very slow woodpecker tapping on our roof? Mrs SoL drumming on the bedside table in her sleep? No, we had sprung a leak through our roof. The storm outside was raging and it’s direction meant that it was getting under the tiles. Then when Mrs SoL got up, the full story was revealed. The rain had created a river, running from the field behind, through the swimming pool (now brown) and on past the veg into the commercial polytunnels opposite. Then, of course, the power went off. Wading through the almost knee high water to the pool pump room, it was under a foot of water. Isolated it, reset the trip switch in the house and power is back. For now. The veg is, at least, getting a good watering. Thinking of trying a hydroponics garden next year. Ho hum. Extra pics to see the river crossing the road from the pool. We also have guests who sadly will miss using the pool for the rest of their stay.
