Peonies are very popular now that there are so many lovely varieties rather than the original red. This display at Polesden Lacey is still spectacular even though some of the flowers are past their best. In amongst them now are allium seed heads, I wish I had seen it when their purple heads were mixed in with the peonies.
I took myself up to Polesden Lacey and had a delightful morning on my own, taking the time to read the plant labels and to look for blips. The rose gardens are coming into their own now. I browsed in the shop and bought a few bits, then treated myself to lunch. I have put two more pictures as extras.
Meanwhile Normous was in London, listening to a talk on D Day. What a contrast to my gentle day.
