Walk home
It was a long walk back, made worse because we took a wrong lane and then got lost.
I'm going to attempt to update this entry as I'm now sat in the garden (in the shade) which has an amazing internet connection. Our walk took us to Collazone, a journey of three miles, BUT uphill all the way and in fact very steeply uphill on the final stretch. It was a beatutiiful walk, initially along a fairly quiet country lane where the wild flowers and butterflies were amazing. I kept thinking of Mollyblobs and how many species she could have identified. Wild sweet-peas were in profusion as were lots of other members of the vetch family. Also many yellow flowering plants, some of which reminded me of Helenium. At one point we were surrounded by clouds of what looked like large white butterflies interspersed with smaller yellow ones. Magic. We slowly made our way up the hill to Collazone and discovered both a very nice small restaurant and a small but very ancient hill village in the process of being restored. A rain storm set in as we were about to set off back and Ann has some amazing photos of me in Merv's green batman cape. No wonder he thought it would get ripped if he wore it, I think it probably could get at least three of us in and we're not small! Fortunately the rain stopped for the rest of our walk but did threaten a thunder storm as we got down to the bottom of the hill. Unfortunately we took the wrong road on the way back, so we had an extra couple of miles added onto our journey. Once we stopped and looked carefully at the sat nav on my phone we realised we could do it, but we were very shattered at the end of the day and it was very warm. Our journey back was probably closer to five miles than three, so quite an outing!
