And now for something completely different....
Whilst Lakeland Photographic Holidays usually concentrates on landscape photography there are the odd occasions when the focus of the day is completely different as in this case where action and candid photography predominate. We had a great day at Appleby Horse Fair and as throughout this week, the weather played ball - a warm sunny day with plenty of diffuse lighting. I always thought the fair would be dominated by visitors coming to see the romany folk show off their horses but I was quite wrong as the visitors are few in number and can usually be distinguished by their cameras. Whereas the whole town is overflowing with gypsies who are friendly and very affable. It is almost like stepping into a time warp. It is certainly bursting with photo opportunities as apart from the action photos - the horse washing and the gypsies practising for the trotting races, there are just so many characters around, none of whom seem to be at all bothered by the cameras clicking away.
