Tour de Yorkshire.
Fab day. Drove all over - Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Hardcastle Crag, Haworth. Pure coincidence that they all begin with an H.
Halifax was where Big Bro created Calderland (google it) as an artistic response to the floods of 2015 that literally engulfed the community. It won a really prestigious award and generated a huge amount of energy. The panoramic extra shows the space where it actually took place with a community choir of 150 people.
Hebden Bridge is a lovely town although it suffered badly in the floods. We had an excellent light lunch in a veggie cafe called Greens and bought strange vegan cakes in a small bakery. For strange read inedible. We donated them to the pigeon community back in Saltaire and haven’t seen our feathered friends since. I think it was the turmeric seed cake that probably did it.
Hardcastle Crags was spectacular, a walk through a long valley with streams and falling water leading to a mill where we had tea and vegan cake (the edible variety, not suitable for pigeons). The kind of place where you could put down a blanket, listen to the sounds of nature and fall asleep. There is no castle although someone did ask my brother where to find it. I would have lied and invented a story around it but he is more responsible than me. I think it is because the place is National Trust, you hear castle and assume there is one.
Brief stop in a strangely quiet Howarth for a beer, then a drive home through spectacular Bronte country.
Beer and curry in the evening.
Thank you D and A, Lovely day.
