Piwakawaka

A late afternoon stroll round the high school garden plot rewarded me with this little fantail. It flew on to the fence before me and then onto the apple trees. I decided not to chase it but stood in one spot and when it came flitting around I left the camera up to my eye and just kept clicking the shutter. It was either mesmerised, curious or just unafraid but it sat there and turned this way and that. Result. The closest I have got to one and the best ever photo too. Only had to crop slightly.

This little bird is a stark contrast to yesterdays kereru in size, shape, habit- everything. Thankyou for the interest in the wood pigeon. Hope you enjoy the piwakawaka just as much.(One extra showing a wider view)
