Look into my eyes....

I went for a (very) quick trip to Southwater woods today, quick not because it was damp or overcast or anything, but quick because the horse vampire flies were out in force - they were everywhere!! I met a poor lady with a horse who was just constantly bothered by the little bliters!
This beauty, Haematopota pluvialis  the Common or Notch-horned Cleg was sitting on the windscreen of my car, luckily for me she was more interested in having a wash and brush up than feeding on my blood!!
That said, if she wasn't such a pain (literally) she is rather beautiful.
