Tortoise bug

In the long grassy edges in Ben's field at Southwater country park the Tortoise Shield bugs are having a very good year!
Some years I only see a handful, most of which are plain brown in colour, but this year they are not only brown but maroon and this rather fetching stripy brown and cream.
The tortoise bug Eurygaster (cf) testudinaria is widespread in Southern Britain and can be found all year, but is especially easy to find in summer when the grasses are in flower.
