Casa Joana, Sarria, Barcelona

After a lovely expedition to Sarria with Dd, including shopping, coffee, drinking wine and trying to escape the rain we then met Bb. More shopping ensued and then we went to the above restaurant. It’s one of their favourites and I can see why. They’ve been coming here for more than 20 years and are welcomed like old friends. Then they get served very well cooked regional dishes, with an unobtrusive waiter checking all is well. It’s interior is calm, and the friendliness flows, right until after they’ve said their goodbyes.

It’s always good to visit restaurants that have been around for a lifetime, but it suddenly becomes that bit more special when you see the locals being so warmly welcomed (and being welcomed yourself).

A brisk walk home to walk off dinner, and time to reflect on another good day.
