Bar Marsella, Barcelona

Bar Marsella has been in business since 1820, and has served the likes of Hemingway, who was known to slump here over an absenta (absinthe). The bar still specialises in absinthe, a drink to be treated with respect. Taken from Lonely Planet

And no, not game enough to drink the absinthe. But amazing to be in such an old bar. Think old cabinets with very old bottles of alcohol, paint peeling from the ceiling, lovely little round marble-top tables and these beautiful floor tiles (pictured). I’d happily go back to soak up the history.

A nice day with a visit to the Picasso Museum to see the exhibition of his artwork about cooking. This was after a very long walk around and through the city. Cheese and cava were a must after the exhibition, and more cava after my lovely hosts arrived. Dinner was in a little local place they’ve been going to for years.

Another good day.
